Shahindej or shahindezh (old name Sayin Qala )Tukrish language Sayın Qala (صایین قالا)  is a city in West Azerbaijan Province, northwestern Iran, with a population of 34,204 according to the 2006 census, southeast of Lake Urmia about 1,300 metres above sea level. The population of Shahindej is Azerbaijanian Turkish People and Some Kurdish . The city has mostly populated with Turkish, about 70%.
